The first batch of donation of books from sponsor Groiler was given last December 2012. As we mentioned in other Groiler related post, their company gave a big donation of Php 8.6M worth of books. Here are the profiles of the 4 of the 10 centers:
GK Ave Maria Learning Center is located in Samplaoc , Tanay Rizal. The learning center caters yearly to more 30 students and also conducts tutorial lessons for children ages 4 -12. Teacher Glucel Miralles heads the learning center and is more than happy to receive the donated books from our partners. (Ave Pics 1-4)
GK Malanim is one of the 8 sites in Antipolo. The structure of the learning center was donated by Meralco as it was GK’s template to have a school in every site. Malanim is one of the biggest in terms of community. The Learning Center in this site continues to cater not only to the villagers but also from other surrounding communities. GK Melchor Learning Center is located in Baras, Rizal. A relocation site established in 2007, the learning center was one among the first structure to be built together with the houses. While the build was on going, volunteers gathered the children in the learning center to be cared for until it was converted to a school. It is presently handled by Jerric Perrera, a volunteer teacher. The books will surely enhance the quality of education for the children. (Melchor Pics 1-4)
GK Teleprformance Village is the newest GK site in Rizal. Most of the beneficiaries that are undergoing rehabilitation were victims and survivors of Typhoon Ondoy. Luckily, the partners gave us not only houses but also GK Learning Center, an IT room and a multi-purpose hall. The books will help us a lot to enhance the education of the children in this village.
