170 Groiler’s Story Telling at Tenement Elementary School

Written by Kuya Harvard

This is our 4th Day of Christmas- part of the packed 12 Days of Christmas. You will see a series of these events this December. We are glad the response to partner with us to make more events has been receptive. Groiler Scholastic, one of our two main book suppliers agreed on two Story Telling events after their Php 8.6M book donation.

More than giving, we got to encourage their company to also volunteer and reach out to 2 of the locations where the books will be donated. One of the locations, Tenement Elementary School in Taguig is under our partner World Vision.

The event started a bit later than expected as traffic in the Metro during the holidays start taking its toll. But despite the late start, we were able to come up with an exciting program for 22 volunteers and 50 kids. The first activity- dance the very popular song, “Gangham Style”. We weren’t surprised that almost all the kids knew how to dance it.

We had story telling next. It was the central theme of the activity. Groiler had one if its employees talk about an interactive story of men’s best friend, the dog. After that we got to involve everyone into a game called arrange yourselves. An old game yet very effective in connecting participants together.

We also had a glimpse of Groiler’s mascot, Clifford. Yep, he was a sure hit for the kids.
