807 Giving Is Social’s Futkal with Tulong Sa Kapwa Kapatid

Thanks to another worthwhile partnership with Singaporean based NGO, Giving is Social we were able to conduct another unique workshop for one of the sites of Tulong Sa Kapwa Kapatid. The children are from the nearby community and they benefit from tutorial, after school programs and other related assistance.
Before jumping off to an hour of Futkal or Football sa Kalye, we made sure our volunteers (some foreign) get acquainted with the kids. We did this through an array of questions in getting to know and an exciting ice breaker activity, get in. They lined up and challenged themselves to getting the hula hoop go through their bodies.
Led by Mark Goroy, we did warm ups first before the actual drills. It was a 60 minute activity under the sun and most welcomed the heat. Everyone tried their very best to learn how to navigate through cones and “kicking” the balls with their feet and heads. The kids were laughing and smiling the whole time.
Often times are group uses workshops like these to instill values like discipline, listening skills, creativity and hard work. Learning the craft is secondary. It is in fact a bonus if they get to love and continue with the activity later on. We did leave footballs to our beneficiary.
Before bidding goodbyes, we also gave out biscuits to the children. They on the other hand reciprocated with warm smiles, thank yous and hugs to the volunteers.
