865 Friday Lawyer’s Club Celebrates with Little Lights Ministry

Written by Vice President for External, Kuya Glenn Costales
A seemingly simple Sunday afternoon quickly turned out to be a highly active one for a group of lawyers from the Friday Lawyer’s Club. We gathered together in the basketball court of Countryside Village in Pasig to spend time with 30 kids from Little Lights Ministry.
It’s always refreshing to be reunited with these very well-mannered but enthusiastic kids. Our volunteers soon realized this after spending time with them to get our event rolling.
Kuya Alan was our first act with his dazzling Bubble Show. He made bubbles of different sizes, some complex looking ones and even a bubble within a bubble. The kids and volunteers also got the opportunity not just to be up close to the bubbles but even inside them. It was a nice way to subtly settle them into our event. But that was just the beginning.
After Kuya Alan’s show, the volunteers and kids readied themselves for three (3) high-spirited games. The first one was the Tic-Tac-Toe race. We saw this game played online by some children and we just had to make this part of our roster.
In the Tic-Tac-Toe race, we made a 3×3 box using hula hoops. We gave each team a colored-towel which they will be using to mark their team’s box to try and make a straight pattern. The game was just that – Tic-Tac-Toe but a lot bigger and more fun. The members tagged each other and raced to run around the hula hoop setup to try and form a pattern. We had 2 teams face off in each round in a battle-of-winners format. The game was as good as advertised as it was highly-energized, competitive and most of all, fun.
The next game was the Golden Spoon game which was a relay to fill the most water into each team’s cup. The last one was an old favorite, the Hula Hoop Race. The excitement of the first game was a tough act to follow. The next 2 games though did not disappoint and likewise delivered exhilarating competition.
We then served a delicious and well-deserved meal to the kids. Aside from that, the volunteers also prepared a bevy of sweet treats for them to take home (or munch on them as dessert). Our legal experts/ volunteers then took out their gifts to the kids consisting of story books and a Christmas food pack.
Thank U! to our very game and eager volunteers for making the most of their time with Little Lights Ministry. We certainly hope this won’t be the last time they serve in an event with us.
