859 De La Salle College of Saint Benilde Celebrates with Kokkyo Naki Kodomotachi

Written by Core Team Leader, Kuya Richard Yatar
It is really the most wonderful time of the year especially to our kids from KNK Children without Borders Philippines, Inc. Our Ates and Kuyas from De La Salle College of Saint Benilde Staff visited them with much excitement as they arrived in the venue 90 minutes early. They surely made an ordinary day of these kids extraordinary!
There were around 40 kids in the program to celebrate Christmas with our volunteers. Half of those kids came from other area of KnK and traveled to Fairview, Quezon City just for this program. The event was filled with smiles from the very beginning since the kids were able to make new friends and connections. Who wouldn’t be excited for those cool kuyas and ates who managed to not just introduce themselves but also portray their favorite action superheroes. From that point, our kids already formed a bond with their partner ates and kuyas.
After the introduction, U! Happy core team leaders divided kids and volunteers into four groups for the games. First game was pass the charades. Everyone was very competitive as they pass the animal action that they need to guess. It was a very tough war among all groups but in the end, the most connected and engaging team won. Next was the Paper and Straw wherein they needed to transfer those pieces of paper from one chair to another. It was a new game especially for our ates and kuyas but they finished the game with a breeze.
Of course, our event won’t end without a simple feast. They need to be energized again after those awesome yet very tiring activities. After eating, the kids showcased their dancing moves to our volunteers. That was their own gesture of saying thank you to our ates and kuyas. Our last activity was aimed to make them feel the spirit of Christmas, our sponsors distributed lots of gifts. The KnK kids were very thankful not just for new toys but also for new friends they met.
