262 Cups of Hope Distribution

Written by Kuya Harvard

Thanks to Ate Jane Lacap who spearheaded this event. Our program Cups of Hope is aimed to provide hot meals and encouraging words to our survivors as they arrived from Taclaban to Villamor Air Base in Pasay City. The team has done a whole week rotation of this program and will continue until we accept people from the Visayan region.

Some of these photos show kids receiving their hot chocolate porridge made up of tablea and sticky rice (champorado). We we’re able to capture some of their excitement and their smiles. Our goal is to distribute thousands of cups to all who need during our shifts. These personal encounters created powerful sharing of survival and defeat. Here is a testimony from one of our volunteers, Julie Grace Agustin.

I continued with the giving of food and I saw this one family; a mother and a father with their two adorable Kids. I offered them a cup of champorado and sat with them. I asked them how they are and they started sharing their stories; how they survived and how they’re living after Yolanda. They said everything in detail. As I was listening to them, God is speaking to me and telling me to pray for them. I am glad they let me.

They were so happy after we prayed and the father said, “Maraming maraming salamat po sa prayer nyo. Sobrang laking bagay po nun. Salamat din po sa masarap na pagkain.”

★ If you’re given the chance to pray for someone, don’t ever think twice because surely, it is God who’s telling you to do so.. Obey right away and you will be amazed. ★

“And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” 1 John 5:14-15.
