March 7, 2015 turned out to be a festive day for twenty (20) kids with autism of C.P. Sta. Teresa Elementary School SPED class as Phi Lambda Delta Sorority of U.P. College of Medicine transformed Luneta Playground into a place of fun and awareness.
Children’s Fair: An Interactive Fair for Autism Awareness was in partnership with U.P. Children’s Rights, Advocates League, Volunteers for Children (U.P. Diliman), FLCD circle, Pilipinas Natin, Sigma Tau Delta (The Pioneer Sorority), U.P. Pre.Medical Honor Society, Regionalization Students Organization, Gardenia, and U! Happy Events. Each organization prepared booth, which promotes interaction. Some prepared art-related booth while others prepared booths that offered nice treats. U! Happy Events prepared two booths for kids. These are the balloon twisting booth and photo booth.
The event officially started with an opening remark given by Ms. Benigna A. Nava of Autism Society Philippines, who has a son with autism. She said that children with autism should really be taken care of. Proper care should be given to these kids simply because it (care) is what they need the most.
Volunteers and kids were then paired and toured the place filled with interesting booths, which kids can interact and earn freebies. The event was concluded with an intermission number by Phi Lambda Delta Sorority and awarding ceremony.
Certificates of Appreciation were given to Ms. Benigna A. Nava of Autism Society Philippines and Mr. Ricky Del Mundo, School Coordinator of C.P. Sta. Teresa Elementary School.
