106 Ate Malou’s Care for Rare with Philippine Society for Orphan Disorders

Written by Kuya Harvard

Care for Rare was an idea of Kuya Harvard. Two months before this, he met up with Ms. Magdaraog, President of Philippine Society for Orphan Disorders. Consequently, board member and secretary Malou Galian was looking to sponsor a group of kids for her birthday. Last October 23, 2011, the match happened! 🙂

They are dubbed orphans because they are neglected by society. These kids have rare disease. Only 1 of every 20,000 born babies have what they have- an illness that challenges not only the kid but the entire family. PSOD addresses this need by providing a platform of support system.

Upon knowing that these kids have not been to the Zoo, it became a mission for us to make the event a reality. Thanks to the help of Mr. John Chua for being instrumental in making the tickets half the price. Kinder Zoo inside Manila Zoo was a great venue for the kids to see the animals up close and even touch them.

Besides the tour, U! Happy Events prepared a photo booth and magic show for the kids. It was nice to witness these kids, battling with rare disease also perform dance and song numbers, says Malou.
