426 Bautista Family’s Christmas with Shepherd of the Hills

Written by Core Team Leader, Jap Paragsa

The kids of the Shepherd of the Hills had another Christmas treat last December 21, Sunday. The event was made possible by the generous hearts of Ate Mitch and Kuya Lakan, together with their children.

It was a fun-filled afternoon which started with the usual introduction between the kids and volunteers who shared their favorite Christmas food and wish with each other. After getting to know each other, it was time to get everyone hyped with the “Pass the Charades” game. This is one of the more challenging games on our roster but everyone seemed to enjoy the game as proven by their enthusiasm and competitiveness.

Once everyone’s settled, Kuya Rey took the stage to show everyone how to twist some balloons. Each one was given a balloon for twisting and Kuya Rey gave them step-by-step instructions on how to create a dog from their balloon. The surprise and amazement in their eyes were priceless as they saw their finished products. Our twister also showed off his skills as he created various shapes and gave those out to the kids which they really loved.

The SOTH kids proved that they also got skills. A group of dancers and a violin quartet performed for the group to show their appreciation. Truly these kids are blessed with talents and it was a great opportunity to witness it.

Of course, the event will not be complete without the food and gifts from our sponsors. The gift giving was facilitated by the kids of Ate Mitch and Kuya Lakan. It was such an inspiring scene to watch them at such an early age get familiar with the concept of volunteerism – a concept we would like everyone to know and champion.
