28 Celebration with Backstreet Kids

Written by Kuya Harvard

Mr. Mike Lee, one of Kuya Harvard’s bible study members is a an avid volunteer of Christ Commission Fellowship’s Back Street Kids (BSK). This ministry is currently reaching out to 500 kids of Mandaluyong. Almost 100 of them are being supported in their studies through their Education Assistance Program.

They do regular Saturday classes at Nueve de Pebrero Elementary school. The goals include enhancing these kids skills and establishing closer relationship with God. For more information about this great group, you may check their website at www.backstreetkidsministry.com. =)

We thank 4 core members- Harvard, Jo-e, Te and Camille for joining us on this activity. We went out there to meet the core group of BSK and over 160 Kids. Yes! They can be our next partner. We wish to collaborate with their oganization for our 2nd year anniversary and 26th U! Happy Event- Kids Karol.

The project is now on the works and here are the initial plans. This will be a 2 hour Christmas Musical with Arts and Crafts Exhibit targeted on December 13 2pm at La Salle Green Hills Auditorium. This aims to enhance the talents of all 185 Kids of Back Street Kids. Showcasing what these Kids are good at to the public will be a life changing experience for them. Developing Kids talent means giving them a better life.

Kids Karol is a Christmas Musical Play with 3 Christmas songs, 3 types of dance- hip hop, interpretative and ballet jazz, instrumental performances and exhibition. For the Kids who are not inclined for the show, we will course them to the Arts or Crafts exhibits. To generate more revenue for this project, we will be selling the Arts and Crafts. Buyers can get to meet their “artist”. We will attach profiles of the Kids on every item sold.

It is indeed a dream project. We will blow to U! people our major plans as Back Street Kids head, Mr. Roli Sabado and his board responds to our request.

We would like to thank Krispy Kreme for being an integral part of this short U! Happy Event. They donated 30 dozen of their amazing glace doughnuts. The hats were free too. Thank U! for always around for donations.

To be able to interact more on these Kids, Kuya Harvard conducted a short game on bible questions. We were amazed and found difficulty as Kids knew the Bible very well. The game went longer as planned. =)

We are excited for Kids Karol. We will keep U! guys posted. Be excited too! =)
