Everywhere around the world, Christmas is celebrated as a season of love and giving, most especially for family and friends. For ate Sheila, however, Christmas is indeed a season of love and giving but not just for her inner circle – it is a season to share blessings to those outside who need support as well.
Last December 10 ate Sheila and her family went to Gawad Kalinga Laura drive to extend their festivities and celebration with our cute and friendly GK kids. Before anything else, we made sure that the kids knew the ates and kuyas they would be spending their time with, through our getting-to-know activity, and grouping them into smaller groups for games. After the kids had warmed up to the volunteers, we then proceeded with games to get everyone’s energy up — including Speed Cone, and Cheese Ring relay which required much agility, speed and coordination for our participants. Each game got the volunteers and kids bonding even more, and it was a splendid sight seeing everyone laughing and joining in on the fun.
We also invited a balloon twister, who showed awesome displays of shapes and animals formed with simple balloons which got the kids entertained. Ate Sheila and her family also made sure to prepare giveaways for the kids to remember the fun time we all had.
As the program came to a close we took a group photo to capture the meaningful time we had, and the cute kids thanked their ates and kuyas in the form of sweet hugs. Thank you so much ate Sheila and family for making the Christmas season even sweeter and more memorable for the kids of GK Laura!
