Ate Regina Navata, a Behavioral Science student from University of the Philippines – Manila, turned 18 years old last October 9, 2017.
She chose to celebrate her debut in a less traditional and more socially-relevant fashion by sponsoring a fun-filled event for the kids of 2KK Escopa in Quezon City on October 21, 2017.
25 kids participated in a morning filled with games and aerobic exercises. They were joined by Ate Regina’s family and friends.
The event started with a dance led by John Rel, one of the kids, in the tune of Justin Bieber’s Despacito. The kids and the volunteers were then divided into five groups wherein everyone got acquainted with each other. With the adrenaline still rushing in, they followed up the introductions with a Hoola Hoop relay.
After the game, Kuya Victor of Functional Fitness prepared the group for a fitness workshop. Ate Regina opted to have aerobics in the program to emphasize the value of health which oftentimes is taken for granted. The kids and the volunteers danced their hearts out with up-to-date music and beginner-friendly steps.
Following the physical exercises, the group had a hearty lunch from Ahlee’s, a restaurant which has stalls in 150 Maginhawa Food Park and in Marikina. They had chicken lollipop, carbonara, and mango graham panacota.
The event was capped off by gift-giving. Instead of receiving presents, Ate Regina shared her treasures with the kids. On top of that, she left the kids with inspiration that would help them make this world a better place.
