1036 Ate Pinky Celebrates with Gawad Kalinga Laura, Taguig

Ate Grace “Pinky” Damasco celebrated her 27th birthday with 30 kids from Gawad Kalinga – Laura Drive, Taguig on November 11, a day before her actual birthday. The young boys and girls were aged 5-10 years old. We were joined by her boyfriend Kuya Matt, cousin Ate Moj, and friends Ate Kim and Ate Denyss.
Ate Pinky, a regular volunteer for Girls’ Got Game, created and sponsored an outreach for the first time. We had a morning filled with games suitable for the kids.
Before having the games, we grouped the kids with our Ates and Kuyas. We picked Christmas-inspired group names which include the Jingle Bells led by Ate Pinky, Little Angels by Ate Denyss, Santa Babies by Kuya Matt, Christmas Elves by Ate Kim and Team Merry Christmas by Ate Moj. We asked the kids what they wanted for Christmas; they have varying responses from material things like bikes, dolls and gadgets to the intangibles like happiness and excelling in school.
After knowing each other, we played two electrifying games: In and Out, wherein participants go inside or outside the hula hoop depending on the description of the game master, and Beach Ball Relay, wherein pairs work together to move the beach balls in odd fashion as instructed by the game master.
After a tiring set of games, we had our 2-piece burger steak lunch from Jollibee. We concluded the event by giving Noche Buena sets, stuffed toys and basket balls to the kids.
It is the Season of Giving. Share your time with the kids. Volunteer or create your own event with us now!
