1053 Ate Norene Celebrates with Philippine Children’s Medical Center

Written by: Kuya Richard Yatar, Core Team Member

Another session of hospital visit was held last November 26, 2017 in Philippine Children’s Medical Center in Quezon Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City. It was participated by 28 children age ranging from 1 to 10 years old. Of course, the event wouldn’t be possible without our good-hearted volunteers from different sectors. In fact, volunteers didn’t know each other at first. They just went there with the sole intention of putting their time to help those children in need especially now that Christmas is nearly approaching. Because of the kids’ condition, the event didn’t go the usual way wherein kids gather in an open area to play do the activities. Instead, the team was the one who visited those kids in their ward or room. Children looked sick but when they saw the faces of our ates and kuyas, they managed to keep the pain for a moment and chose to play with our volunteers. In spite of a very limited time, they were able to share their stories and managed to know each other.
Core members of U! Happy filled that short time with happiness and laughter. They had games, prizes and new friends! They were given time to talk to parents and kids. Aside from that, we also played Pass the Ball. Kuya Harvard was in control in the music and the players just needed to pass the ball around. When the music stopped, the person holding the ball needed to do the consequence! Of course, the consequence was DANCING!
The majority of children have never been to a hospital before. Some were crying back to their parents but some were strong enough to continue their battle, as if nothing ever happened. Whenever our volunteers ask them of what they want to become in the future, they were very certain that they want to be someone in the near future. That was a living proof that those kids were so eager to feel better soon
Hope this mission helped them to be free from what they were feeling! We will surely visit them again!
