What better way to show gratitude than to share your blessings to others, right? In fact, we at U! Happy Events can testify to that as most of our sponsored events come in the form of birthday celebrations. Last Saturday, July 23, was no exception. Our sponsor, Ate Jessa chose to celebrate her birthday with 60 kids from SOS Village.
To start the wonderful day, we first grouped our volunteers and the kids, and had the usual “getting-to-know” routine. After that, we proceeded with a game wherein the volunteers and the kids have to challenge as many people to a game of “rock, paper, scissors.” If they win, they will have to get a sticker from that person (note: prior to the game, we placed several stickers to each person) and the most number of stickers wins. The volunteers and kids then were then treated to a magic show. For some of them, it was their first time to view such.
We then had another game. This time, we played In or Out,” a favorite in our events. Basically, the kids and volunteers were grouped and were asked to further group themselves once the instruction is given. For instance, everyone in the group who are wearing socks should be “in” the hula hoop and those who are not should be “out” of the hula hoop. First team to do so, earns a point. The game was so intense as the teams were very competitive.
After the game, the volunteers and kids were now treated to an acrobatic show. The show, to say the least was heart-stopping. There were lots of times wherein we had to close our eyes.
After the show, we then distributed the food and drinks for the kids and volunteers to enjoy. Following the merienda was a group photo, which also included a surprise birthday greeting for Ate Jessa.
The event ended with Ate Jessa giving away baon packs to the children. If that was not enough, she even bought “Happy” dolls for them. We ended the celebration with the kids giving hugs to the volunteers and thanking them for letting them celebrate the birthday of Ate Jessa.
