143 Ate Gwen Celebrates with Philippine General Hospital

Ate Gwen has a heart for volunteer work since she was young. In fact she is an active volunteer in her church, Victory. She is a teacher in the church for kids for years now. Mind you, Ate Gwen only celebrated her 26th birthday. It was her dream to do an outreach like this.

U! Happy Events has increased Create Your Own events this year. It is an avenue for volunteers to make an event on how they want it with full assistance from us. The best part is the ability of our group to match and complement what the volunteer is looking for.

After a month of planning and details, Ate Gwen had the one of the best days of her life- and so did the kids and her co-volunteers. “When you do events, it is never one way,” we touch every person involved, says Kuya Harvard.

We started with face painting. The kids patiently lined up for their turn. “Face paint is such a treat for cancer patients”, Ate Tess mentions. “Just seeing their faces and hands colored excites them,” she adds. We continued with 2 games after pairing up the kids and volunteers together. We had the classic newspaper dance and was done until the newspaper was shorter. The volunteers and kids were very competitive which made it a close battle. “I dropped the bomb” was the next game. It was just simple game but it made much joy to all participants.

Ate Gracie, one of her best friends did a great job in narrating Gaya, a story book about a bull who wanted to fly, to swim and do other things. All the kids had their own copies. The partner volunteer took the time to go through it with the younger kids as Ate Gracie shares it with much passion.

Kuya JB did an awesome magic show! He related magic and God’s power. He mentioned that God can put us back together for nothing is impossible with him. Pastor Dan continued on and said Magic is wonderful but it is a bag of tricks, what God can do is real and is happening. Pastor Dan took the time to pray for healing and salvation to the kids, volunteers and parents.

As an act of celebration, the last part of the program was a dance headed by Kuya Jeff. Lyrics were written and steps were taught. Dance gave energy and happy faces! Food was served after. Ate Louise also came and co-celebrated her day. She sponsored the food for the volunteers and guardians.
