939 Ate Gabbi Celebrates with New Faith Family Home

Written by Board Member, Ren dela Cruz
The sweltering heat of summer couldn’t have prevented ate Gabbi and her family from spending a fun-filled afternoon last April 22 with the kids of New Faith Family Home. In fact, the weather was just perfect to enjoy and bond with the 30 kids who were looking forward to spending time with their ates and kuya.
To start off the day, we asked our volunteers to go in front and introduce themselves to the children. Ate Gabbi’s husband and sister were also there that afternoon, and they plus some of our core team members gave their name, favorite summer food, and a favorite dance step to keep the kids entertained. Then we asked each volunteer to group with 5 kids, and talk about the kids’ answers to the questions as well.
Pretty soon everyone got comfortable with their groups and we started with the first game, Pass the Dance. Team members must pass a dance step to the last person in the line and successfully copy the original dance taught to the first person in the line. This was an awesome activity for the kids, who seemed to love grooving to the beat. Next, we also played Act Now where representatives of the team have to look at a picture and make the team act it out in the most exact way possible. It was a funny and joyful sight seeing teams subject themselves to the direction of the reps without knowing what the photo looked like.
To rest from the activities and entertain us even more, we then brought out our next act, which was a magician! The toddlers of New Faith also joined in onthis one and everyone were delighted with tricks both old and new. Meals soon followed, which the kids also enjoyed after a fun-filled afternoon. Ate Gabbi also shared boxes of toys for the kids, which they couldn’t wait to get their hands on.
To end the day, we took a group photo to capture all the fun and bonding we had the afternoon. Thank you ate Gabbi and family for your warm and generous hearts!
