1059 Ate Cathy Celebrates with Philippine Children’s Medical Center

Written by: Ate Ren dela Cruz, Board Member

For most kids, the Christmas holidays are a time of cheer, filled with lots of trips to loved ones and family members to get their yearly treats and gifts. This is such a wonderful picture to paint for the season of giving, but there are also children celebrating the birth of Jesus and going through the month, confined in hospital rooms and battling sicknesses that range from the mild to the severe.
It was such a delight that this thought did not go unrecognized by ate Cathy, who reached out to our U! Happy team and wanted to celebrate with kids who needed the love and giving that the season brings, the most. So last December 1, to start off the month of December, we headed over to Philippine Children’s Medical Center armed with a desire to spread hope and joy to the children there.
50 kids got to know ate Cathy and the volunteers and vice versa, and that afternoon the children were able to converse and bond with their new visitors who intentionally wanted to spend the day making them smile. To entertain the kids and their ates and kuyas we also brought ate Divine with us, who delighted her audience with balloon twisting – turning simple balloons into various shapes and animals and handing them to the children.
Ate Cathy and the rest of the volunteers also made sure to enjoy mealtime, as well as gift-giving, with the kids. We capped off the day with a photo and it was such a sweet sight to see the children smiling and waving goodbye to their newfound ates and kuyas, and givers of light and love. Thank you for partnering with us ate Cathy!
