Last April 30, “PLAY LEARN SERVE Community” led by Ate Irene partnered with U!Happy Events on conducting their biggest ever gathering. With over 200 kids came from different communities such as kids from Villa Beatriz, Payatas and Bagong Pag-asa all gathered at Old Balara Covered Court. The objective is to Interact with kids and at the same time, to teach kids to learn the good moral values that they may apply in their respective communities.
The activity started with a prayer followed by an enchanting Love/Dance number steered with the youth volunteers from PLAY LEARN SERVE COMMUNITY. The 200 energy-filled kids swayed the captivating dance number with their cheerful face. After the dance, the kids divided in different groups. Volunteers ATE’s and Kuya’s from PLAY LEARN SERVE Community were added to each groups.
Even we have large number of kids and volunteers, we were able to give them enough time to introduce themselves into their respective groups by giving their name, favorite food/actor actress and what the kids wanted to be when they grow up. It was great knowing these kids while on their very young age are very specific and aware what they wanted to be when they grow-up. Most of them desired to be policeman and teacher for them to help on their communities.
While kids and volunteers still have the energy, we continued the activity with a challenging game “PAINT ME A PICTURE”. This is an interactive game that needs Teamwork and Creativity which will greatly create a bond on a team. Each group needs to act together as one depending on a given category. Since our numbers are large, we do give them to Paint a picture a “FIESTA” as the category. It was enjoyable seeing the teams showing their unity, originality and resourcefulness to win the game. Most of them acts the different scenarios and activities during a FIESTA, with some of the group shows a traditional pasabit, eating with a lechon, mimic a parade and even playing bingo.
After the fun-filled games, the lunch/merienda was serve to all kids and volunteers. Before serving, it was first started with sincere prayer led by Ate Irene followed by everyone to give thanks on the blessings from the lord. It was just a priceless moment seeing the unity and support of everyone in the gathering while serving the food.
The gathering ended from heartwarming message from Ate Irene giving thanks to everyone. The Play Learn Serve community conducts regular gathering every Sunday at Ate Irene’s place.
