944 Ate April’s Ocean Park with Sagana

What would you do if you found out that you only have 1 day to live? It’s a question that we hear all the time right? Let me ask that again with a different perspective, “If you suddenly found out you only had a day to live, would the thing in front of you matter to you?”
Would those 20 emails waiting for a response matter? Would the work you’re doing matter? Would the meetings you’re supposed to have matter? Would a sports car, nice house, high-paying job, latest gadgets, and fancy shoes and clothes matter?
I’m not saying they wouldn’t matter, but it is important to ask yourself if they would.
What would matter to you?
For many of us, it’s the loved ones in our lives. Maybe we do have loved ones but we don’t seem to have the time to spend with them. Maybe we haven’t made time for other people too, for getting out and helping others, being compassionate and passionate about them. When was the last time you told your loved ones you really love them? Spent good quality time and just being in the moment?
For Ate April Zaragosa and her friends, they know what would matter to them —the time spent together while helping those in need. To celebrate her birthday, Ate April invited 27 kids from Project Pearls for a purpose-filled day at Manila Ocean Park.
Project Pearls is a community-based partner beneficiary of U! Happy Events that aims to help the poorest of the poor children in the Philippines to have a better life through feeding and educational programs.
Everyone was so excited to start the fun around the country’s marine theme park and a premier educational facility. We went to see loads of fish and other sea creatures at the Oceanarium. The children were in awe, “Stingray!” “Nemo!” “Shark!” Manila Ocean Park also features other animals that are not found in the ocean. The kids with their Ates and Kuyas enjoyed watching the bunnies, hamsters, and rats hop, run and play. At Snow Village, the kids got to experience what it’s like to be in a snow-covered place and very cold weather. They even got the chance to see penguins, watching them how they dive, swim and walk. Yexel’s Toy Museum is the best attraction to take photos and to pose with life-size superheroes like Iron Man, Storm Trooper and the Majestic Chair from Game of Thrones. My personal favorite is the Sea Lion Show, where the children learned what sea lions can actually do —playing tricks, balancing, searching for lost items, even kissing!
The fun didn’t not stop here. Kids were served with yummy food to fill their tummies and were given gifts to satisfy their hearts. We ended the adventure-packed day by singing and wishing Ate April a happy happy birthday!
For many of us, doing work that matters, would matter. That might mean helping others, making a vital contribution to society, creating something brilliant and inspiring, or expressing ourselves somehow. It’s not really the money that matters, but the impact of the work. We would like to thank Ate April for being an inspiration on how we should live our own life too.
Because while we might not have only 1 day to live, we really do only have a short time to live. The life we have left is a gift. Cherish it. Enjoy it to the fullest. Do what matters, now.
