Written by Vice President for Internal, Ate Charmain Tan
This evening we invited the children of John D.V. Salvador Foundation to experience the wonderful performance of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) at Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). The foundation provides assistance to children in Tondo and Binondo communities. As the teenagers arrived at CCP they excitedly talked about the concert as some of them plays musical instruments like piano, guitar, and violin. PPO’s 34th concert season opened in September last year. There have been special performances since it opened featuring the music of Beethoven, Mozart, A. Dvorak, De Falla, and many others. There were also guest soloist of Filipino musicians. As the first performance for 2017, tonight’s concert was headed by the Japanese conductor Maestro Yoshikazu Fukumura, who was the musical director for the evening. The program featured W.A. Mozart’s Symphony No. 28 in C, E. Elgar’s Enigma Variations, and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto.
The event also featured Filipino violinist Diomedes Saraza, Jr. as the guest soloist. After the program the teens of JD Salvador Foundation got the opportunity to have their photos taken with violinist Diomenes Saraza, Jr. and got to bring home their autographed tickets as souvenir. Some of the teens were really excited to meet the violinist as they also played violin themselves. It was indeed a great experience to watch the great talents of the guest artists and our own Filipino artists.
